Carretera Austral – A watery world
The Carretera Austral is one of the most iconic cycling routes in South America. It’s popularity was obvious as we encountered more cyclists along this 1240 km road than we did in our entire 38,000 km trip. At times we couldn’t quite work out why – as we struggled with the crowds, the dust, the crappy road surface. But the route saved its best for last, and as we wound our way to the end of the road and the start of the boat, hike & bike section over the border, our smiles got bigger and bigger until we emerged at El Chaltén grinning from ear to ear …
Brilliant video, and photos of the south, and commentary. A pleasure to read. Super kudos to you both.
