Great going up and down, I’d like to do it with a bob trailer. What tyres would you recommend for the mountain bike seeing Ed’s Schwalbe’s tyres gave up ?
Planning this trip for next year, all info and advice would be greatly appreciated, e-bikes will be our option. All stops with power and accommodation and distances would be great, will have back up vehicle and generators as well.

My information is quite old now so you will need to contact the roadhouses and stations along the route to get the latest.
Best time of year is early dry season when the rivers have dropped but are still flowing well. (I would suggest June-Sept but closer to June the better)
However if your eBikes don’t like water then later will be a better due to the creek crossings, particularly on the Overland Telegraph Track.
Cooktown had basic bike parts but after that there are none.
If you’re going past Cooktown you will need a capable 4wd
The notes below don’t include the diversion out to Iron Range and Cape Melville but will give you something to start with.
72k Cairns – Mossman (Mossman Caravan Park)
65k Mossman – Cape Tribulation (PK jungle village)
48k Cape Trib – Bloomfield (Bloomfield beach campground)
65k Bloomfield – Cooktown (Peninsula Caravan Park)
64k Cooktown – Normanby River bush camp
82k Normanby River – Kennedy’s Bend bush camp (Lakefield NP)
84k Kennedy’s Bend – Saltwater Creek bush camp (Lakefield NP)
51k Saltwater Creek – Musgrave Homestead (camping, hamburgers and beer)
106k Musgrave – Coen (Exchange Hotel or campground. stockup here. Camp out back of hotel is good or basic rooms)
65k Coen – Archer River Roadhouse (camping, famous Archer burger)
72k Archer River – Rocky Creek bush camp (you may not find it, just find a spot)
50k Rocky Creek – Moreton Telegraph Station (camping, basic supplies)
37k Moreton – Bramwell Homestead Bramwell Homestead (may need to contact)
42k Bramwell – Delhunty River bush camp (part of the Old Telegraph Track, possibly difficult vehicle access. Consider riding the OTL and meeting up with support vehicles which can do the bypass road)
55k Delhunty – Eliot Falls camp ground (riding the OTL, NP camping, toilets here, vehicle access ok)
72k Eliot Falls – Jardine River via OTL. bush camp (awesome riding the OTL but best if vehicles bypass this section. camp at ferry)
45k Jardine River – Seisia (Seisia Camping Ground. base camp here and ride to Cape next day)
